Scalping, I'm a scalper, I scalp indexes futures in Chicago, Japan and Europe. I scalp only during the first hour of the session. Usually my scalps last from a few seconds. I seek to take off 10 ticks and rely on 10 ticks stop-loss.

I am not technically a Daytrader except that when markets are volatile, my profit limits or stops are set so tight that often I am in an out of several trades within 24 hours. But the market movement dictates all of that. Keith Long

I am a short-term day trader in equities. I only trade one specific system that I have been following since Nov. 2007. I have traded many other instruments in the past including forex, index futures, currency futures and stock options, but I've found a niche in what I am doing. I maintain a blog over at http://www.10kthrownaway.com/ where I outline my system and show my daily PnL and what trades I take.

Ainkurn,

I went to your website and it is first rate. As a financial journalist, author and Op-Ed writer for the Finanacial Times newspaper {London}, I specialize in global economics and how they relate to US based investments. i.e. the USD.

Warren Buffett, Bill Gates both use forex as a hedge for their stock portfolio.

The world is flat. Keep globalization and forex in mind, sometime it may make money for you.

Thanks for visiting my site, and thanks for the compliments. I try to keep my blog in tip top shape. I had a little success with Forex back in May 2007, but it has been so long since I even looked at a chart of the spot rates, I'd have to start from scratch if I was going to trade it again.

For anyone interested, I provide a user/password to my profit-generating managed forex account. Also, anyone or anyone and their friends who can scrape together $500 in risk capital can open a managed forex investment account. My profits ytd are 30%. It makes a good hedge for any other investment vehicle, especially these days. Selling the USD has been soooo goood.

I am an intraday swing trader on the S&P 500 prefer to go for the larger moves rather than scalp and i use fixed odds betting. My strategy is to try and pick a good entry and bet that the close will be higher/lower than my entry price. I use medium term support/resistance level, pivots and fibonacci and no indicators.Unless its a strong trending day (either up or down) you usually see an A or V shape forming and so i usually make 1-3 bets a day. I also use my own chart pattern prediction system which i show on my site (http://www.holygrailtrading.webs.com) together with my live calls which i make by downloading the chart showing the time i entered and entry price. With fixed odds you can only lose your stake or double it so the risk reward ratio is 1:1 which means you need a good strike rate but there are a lot of advantages. You dont have to worry about taking profits too early or letting a winner turn into a losing trade, and you dont worry about the fluctuations after entry. You also dont have to worry about your stop getting taken out on potential winning trades.I find its a stress free way of trading and lets me get on with other things
